The goal of the Interactive Media Object Development tools (iMOD) project was to develop an easy-to-use software tool that enables faculty to design and create fourteen (14) distinct multimedia interactive learning activities for use in online and face-to-face instructional environments. Originally conceptualized as having specific use for online foreign language instruction, the wider applicability of the tool to build activities for other disciplines became readily apparent as the project progressed. The iMOD software was developed by the Advanced Learning Technologies unit of the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia in collaboration with foreign language faculty and technical staff from System institutions. The office of Advanced Learning Technologies is pleased to announce that an updated version of the IMOD tool will be available before the end of the calendar year. Updates include an equation editor for six of the wizards to facilitate incorporation of math and science related content. A number of refinements and improvements were also made to the original 14 wizards including menu changes for improved usability, enhanced text formatting, and increases in image sizes and text/characters allowed. Deliverables:The iMOD CD is comprised of the iMOD software, a set of 14 tools or iMODules that can be employed to develop multimedia interactive learning activities.
